Otaku International

For all those out there who are into Japanese music such as JPop or watever (Japanese Rock is about the only Japanese music I listen to honestly). You now have a place to chill and talk about Japanese music, via a website developed by Christ Gaunt who also runs nihongonotes.com. He launches a new site called JPopJapan , as stated by Chris,

I wanted somewhere to discuss good Japanese music. I googled and found a few sites but they were either old and unused or unfriendly and inaccessible. So I decided to start my own site.

Well, thanks to Chris; there is now a place for you Japanese music enthusiasts (and Japanese Music Otaku, which I’m sure exists) to hang and chill out at. Go and spread the love of Japanese Music!

Friends, Patriots, and Countrymen!! Our struggle is nearing its end, soon Otakus shall walk down every street holding their heads held high! No longer shall we be ridiculed for our hobbies and ideals, this day shall end soon my friends!!

Ok so that was a little over the top but the underlying idea is still there. The Otaku subculture is a growing phenomenon throughout the entire world, its acceptance is growing little by little. However, its growth may increase exponentionally since there are Idols (Beautiful Women) who are also more or less Otakus. One of them being Shoko Nakagawa, she is a successful gravure idol, but she can also Sing, act, and is one of the biggest otaku in the world! Yep, that’s right you heard me. She is probably more of an otaku than you or I will ever be.

Now all of you may know that I am an American Chinese living in New York City. Therefore in order to write about things dealing with Japan, I constantly read blogs and postings from various parts of the web (I even read online translated Japanese blogs on occasion). So for myself and others like me, the release of Akiba Today is a blessing for we can now read some Japanese news fully in English.

In a press release today, Japanese newspaper and media outlet Akiba Keizai Shimbun announced the launch of their new English news portal AKIBA Today. Their goal is,

reporting in a cross media fashion about the latest events, goods and trends of anime, game and manga culture in Tokyo’s “electric town” Akihabara. We deliver business news aimed at otaku or fans of japanese pop culture as well as corporations.

Well, I personally will be looking into this site every now and then to check up for cool and new info. Hopefully I speak for all us Non-Japanese reading Otakus out there when i say “I hope more Japanese Sites/Companies follows suit.”

Well despite several hectic and annoying hours trying to fix errors due to a Wordpress 2.6 upgrade (How come it is never easy?). I managed to get the new layout going with all the little nice features here and there. This is a New day for Otaku International, I must say so myself, the previous layout was very simple and bad looking.

Well I will keep on trying to improve the current layout. And I hope this new layout will better benefit the spread of the Otaku Cause. I’ll be seeing ya!

Ahhh…Nothing like kicking back with a cold cup of eel after a hard day at work!

At least that would be the case in Japan. It’s not enough for beer to be the official drink of the oppressively hot Japanese summer, one beer company is hoping to tie-in with the traditional food of summer, unagi (eel). Miyashita Sake Brewery is launching a “Suitable for Unagi” black beer that matches the color and richness of the grilled eel coated in sticky and slightly sweet sauce. You can find this being sold online at a pack of 6 for 2,425 Yen.

Now I am a fan of Anime, and just about like everyone else I am also a fan of the Movies. So what better than the combination of both for a little laughter. Now I must say so myself in the 1st video, Kamina fits in with the Jack Sparrow lines quite perfectly. But Hey see for yourself.

Ok guys I saw this post by FatBastard on dannychoo.com and had to share it, I have never seen this before till this very day. And I must say this video is amazingly well edited, the music fit in perfectly throughout the whole thing.

Many of you Anime watchers out there may remember an anime movie known as “My Neighbor Totoro” in which Totoro is a Grey and white, friendly forest spirit, whose appearance is a combination of an owl, a , and a tanuki and is at least three meters tall. Well in this edited video, Totoro is shown in a whole new light, he isn’t the friendly forest spirit that we all remember.
