Manga coming to Nintendo Wii

Submitted by BZou on July 25, 2008 – 1:39 pm2 Comments

Manga, the comics of Japan (its more than that but just to simplify), it is popular all around the world and soon it just might be even more popular.

Four of the biggest manga publishers in Japan have announced a partnership to offer their manga titles via the Nintendo Wii Ware channel.  Sadly, this seems like it’s only happening in Japan (But who knows, it might transfer to other countries).

Kadokawa, Kodansha, Shueisha and Shogakukan formed a partnership with a local software devoloper to develop a platform for the manga. Initially, they hope to develope a presence on the Wii, but look towards branching out to bring manga to the Nintendo DS and other consoles.

I find it interesting how technology is allowing our hobbies to expand into further horizons that we never thought possible. I would love to play some Smash brothers Brawl and then press a few buttons to start reading a Manga. Good Times are coming my friends, good times.

The idea sounds pretty nice ^^ I would love to get manga on my wii. Though living here in the US it does not seem likely to happen. Though my only argument about this is wanting to have the physical book to add to my shelf.

Also makes me wonder how much they will charge for this service…hmmmmmm

Well It would be nice if it comes out in America. But then again I don’t really like licensed translations, fan translated is so much better in my opinion.
