A Very Realistic Robotic Fish.
This isn’t really an Otaku type news except if you are really into technology. However, I did find this very interesting and decided to blog about it. I hope you enjoy.

Engineers at the University of Kitakyushu have developed one of the most unique looking robots that I have seen in a very long time.
This red snapper is actually a robotic fish known as “Tai-robot-kunâ€Â. It weighs 15.4lbs, and features hand painted scales for realism. And I must say that it looks very realistic, fooled me for a bit. Tai-robot-kun mimics a real fish swimming silently in the water, and can go for as long as an hour with a full battery.
It has a silicone body covered in realistically hand-painted scales, features a unique propulsion system that allows it to move its tail and drift silently through the water like a real fish.

The engineers hope to attach cameras and sensors to the robot so that it will be able to explore the waterways without disturbing aquatic life. Check out the video below to see Tai-robot-kun in action.
