Warnings About FAKE Figures

Submitted by BZou on July 25, 2008 – 3:53 am3 Comments

Figure Collecting is becoming a bigger and bigger hobby among Otakus from all around the world. It is quite an expensive hobby too seeing as figures can range from a simple 30 USD to over 100 USD depending on size and quality (and availability). Therefore those who are into this hobby should keep an eye out for false merchandise. Nothing like paying the price for the real thing only to receive a fake to make ones blood boil.

Alter and GSC put in their web sites warnings, about some fake figures being sell over internet.

Collectors must be careful and buy only in trusted distributors. This problem is not just if you buy in Internet.

Two of my first figures are fakes, one I bought in an Anime Convention and the other one in a hobby store here in my city (BTW, today I spot two fake figures in the same store). Quoted from ceasol of dannychoo.com

Counterfeits tend to be everywhere, somehow I just never figured there would be counterfeit figures. But just proves what people would do for money I guess.

Fake figures? I have heard of that from time to time….just wondering something. In the picture which one is the fake?
My guess it the one on the right……?

Yeah you gotta be careful, I heard some fake figmas are hard to spot.
