Robot Contest at Niku no Mansei

BZou | August 7, 2008

When people think “High Tech Robots,” they usually think Japan. Remember that line in the “Transformers Movie” where Shia LaBeouf said “Oh yeah it’s definitely Japanese.” Well, If you are a robot fanatic, good news for you!

Tsukumo plans on holding a special robot event including a competitive contest meaning great news for Tokyo’s robot fanatics. Despite the location not appearing to be in any relation to robots, after “niku no mansei” is host to a big number of restaurants, the event seems to be organized in a rather normal fashion. There will be three stages of events every day with the first one being the robot contest across various disciplines. The second one includes the observation of the latest robot developments and the third one actually teaches the audience about the assembly, guiding first timers into producing their very own robot.

How many Japanese people want to be reborn as a flying dinosaur?

BZou |

Remember when you were a kid and you marveled at the ancient beasts that we know as Dinosaurs? How many of you imagined owning a pet dinosaur like a T-Rex or a triceratops. Personally, as a child I had fantasized about such things often. Despite this, even I find this information to be quite bizarre. A new survey translated at What Japan Thinks reveals that 18.1% of Japanese want to be reborn as a flying dinosaur, and 12.6% would like to be reborn as a big two-legged carnivore with sharp pointy teeth. Check out the article for more Japan/dinosaur info!

Talkman Travel coming to a PSP near you!

BZou |

Japanese gamers have had access to the Talkman translation software on their PSPs for close to three years now. Even the Euros got their fix of Talkman! North Americans are finally getting it this Thursday via the PlayStation Store in the form of Talkman Travel, there are three language based downloads that feature built-in translated phrases, photos of popular international destinations. It even comes with some mini-games installed (Coolest part perhaps??).

You’ll be able to pick up chicks/dudes in Japanese, French or Italian using Talkman Travel, as well as find places to eat, relieve yourself legally (Which may be the most important thing!). Of course having the Talkman Travel does not guarantee you will be able to get any action, but, hey it is better than trying to pick up someone with hand gestures. I can just see a guy waving wildly trying to indicate that he is interested or whatever, then the cops come…

Well I don’t know about you but I sure am looking forward to this.
