Ice Cream Expo at Yokohama. What is the Weirdest Flavor you’ve tried?
BZou | August 3, 2008Unusual ice cream flavors from home and abroad are drawing families to the Aisukurin Hakurankai (Ice Cream Expo) at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. Over 100 kinds of unique ice cream, made with local delicacies such as ox tongue, sea urchin, eel and horse sashimi, is available during the expo that will end on August, 10.
Now if you think you had some weird flavors, well you would be in for a surprise. Personally speaking I would try most of these if not all just out of principle to see how they taste. I am Asian myself and I have had Red Bean, Soy Bean, all those unique flavors that Americans are not accustomed to. And I enjoyed them perfectly fine, of course Red Bean is nothing like ox tongue but who knows.
Mmm….nothing like some pit viper flavored ice cream for desert!! I am seriously wondering who developed such a flavor, I mean if I am wrong and pit viper flavor means something completely different from what I am thinking, please let me know.
Well I have always loved CHICKEN WINGS!!! Mmm….wonder if they have buffalo flavor, perhaps bbq or honey. I know I’m salivating, I bet you are too right?
Well after the chicken wings, its best to wash it down with some octopus or ox tongue. What? You didn’t know? These flavors are extremely amazingly bold in my opinion. I can just imagine the corporate guys who thought of this stuff.
Hey uh…..we are running out of conventional flavors guys. I need some new and fresh Ideas!!
Um…..well We haven’t tried animal based flavors yet. People like beef and pork right? Why not make beef and pork ice cream?
Good thinking Tom, Lets make some octopus and ox tongue for our Asian Market while we’re at it, they’ll eat it.
Would you guys try these flavors? Do you guys find it disturbing that these flavors even exist? Tell me about the weirdest flavor you have ever tried. Although I doubt you can trump these but hey if you can please share.
Oh if you find these weird flavors interesting, you might want to check out a previous article I wrote about Japanese Eel based drinks.

I couldn’t stomach half of that stuff, but red bean ice cream sounds good. I really haven’t had anything anywhere near that exotic. I like my ice cream sweet. Wonder how long before some of those flavors reach the US market. I could see some of them reaching here.

Red Bean, Green bean. All of those are sweet and delicious, trust me.
And I would be sad if those flavors make it to the US markets…..something must have gone terribly wrong for that to happen. But Like I said, I’ll try them once. Oh and btw I changed the file img assigned to you to a pic of Chi from chobits to match your name lol.
There is hardly anyway I would try any of those

Wow, I have heard the expression “Don’t knock it until you try it” before, but this, I am not sure how well my tastebuds would handle, a couple of them sound interesting, but some of them just don’t sound too appealing, guess I have to try them someday.:)

I think I’ll stay away from the ox tongue or any fish flavored ice cream. The weirdest one I’ve tried is rose petal ice cream. It was actually kind of nice, though given the choice between that or chocolate, I’m going with chocolate or coconut.
Wheeww... In my country, Durian ice cream is rather popular..

Ive tried Durian, I just do not like it. I don’t think even a tempting Ice cream form of that would make me eat it. Just me though, My parents actually like Durian for some reason.
