Gundams designed in the game Spore

For all of those who do not know what Spore is, it is pretty much a simulation game where you start by building an entire civilization from scratch, starting off as a microorganism and eventually evolving its way up to a walking species. The game was pretty hyped up for a while, and when I played it, it ended up being nothing but a very bad disappointment. The game is fun for the first 2-3 hours, but then it just gets repetitive and boring. Despite that they do have some interesting creative section where you build just about anything: vehicles, buildings, spacecrafts, etc. It turns out some guy (with a lot of time and patience) built up a fleet of Gundams. And here they are:

I do not know how this guy created all of these, I tried but got disturbed and just plain stopped. It is friggen awesome though, I like how these Gundams look.

Gunpla Contest in Akihabara

This piece of news is for Gundam builders everywhere. For the 10th time now Ascii Media Works will hold the Gunpla Contest in Akihabara. The contest running under the name “Dengeki King of Gundam Modelers championship” will have people from all over Japan showing off their creations. There will be two leagues divided by age. The first will be consisting from ages up to 12 and the second one anyone over that. The contest will be lasting 2 days from August 23 until the 24th.

For gunpla builders not living in Japan, you need not worry as this contest is also being held at other locations, the contest will also be held in Hong Kong or Taiwan. For those who are intending to join these competitions, feel free to email me your pictures of the event or your model. I will gladly display them on a post here.

Gundam 00 Season 2 Trailer/Teaser

Found this while youtubing. It is a short teaser or trailer of the second season of Gundam 00. I liked the music in it a lot. Now I have never seen the 1st season of Gundam 00 so I won’t be watching the second season till I catch up. Are you guys anticipating this series?

Kami-Igusa station now has a Gundam Statue!!

I was surfing the net and found something quite interesting. Over at Jacked-in, they show an interesting article about a new Gundam Statue right in front of the Kami-Igusa station. Apparantly this statue was erected in March 2008 and stands at 6ft (190cm) tall.

Can you imagine getting off the trains one day only to walk right into a Gundam; well for me that would be friggen sweet! Now I don’t know about you guys but on my next pilgrimage to Japan, this destination will definitely be a priority for me. Nothing like a nice picture with a Gundam statue to make an Otaku feel welcomed. There is also a video you can view of the statue at Jacked-in, which is a pretty cool clip.
